About Gujranwala Electric Power Company
Gujranwala Electric Power Company is a power generation and distribution company that supplies electric power to Gujranwala Region, Punjab. The jurisdiction to which this department distributes electricity includes Sialkot, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, and Gujrat Districts. It has taken over the services, jurisdiction, and liabilities of the former Area Electricity Board, created in the early 1980s. In the middle of the 1900s, the Pakistani government decided to set up an autonomous department that looks after a water and electricity power network named WAPDA. Later it was divided into eight AEBs in which Gujranwala Electricity Board was also included. WAPDA, the disbanded and independent companies, was made to thoroughly provide a powerful network to each and every corner of Pakistan. This organization was established on 25th April 1998 and started its operation on 5th June 1998, after obtaining the commencement certificate. The current CEO of this department is Muhammad Amin Choudhry.
